ITINERARY
Day 0 –
Travel from your destination towards Aurangabad.
Day 1 – Aurangabad Arrival – Ellora Caves and Local Sightseeing
On arrival, check-in at the hotel and get ready for your Ajanta Ellora trip. Then, have breakfast and visit Ellora Caves. Ellora Caves are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which are known to house beautiful carvings which present great workmanship. This place will truly take you back to the 5th and 11th century India. After sightseeing at Ellora Caves, visit another historical attraction of the place-Grishneshwar or Ghrushneshwar, which is just at a distance of 1 km from Ellora Caves. It is one of the famous places of pilgrimage in Maharashtra, located at Verul village in Aurangabad district. It is also one of the 12 Jyotirlinga shrines mentioned in the Shiva Purana. After sightseeing all day, return to Aurangabad. Have dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2 – Aurangabad – Ajanta caves (120kms)
On day 2 of your Ajanta Ellora tour, have breakfast and head towards Ajanta Caves. Ajanta Caves are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which are famous for its rock cut caves and beautiful paintings which date back to the 2nd century BC. These caves are considered to be the finest surviving examples of Indian Art. History buffs, photo fanatics and experience seekers – everyone will enjoy this place. Ajanta Caves are around 120kms from Aurangabad city. As you reach the caves, you can explore the past of the country. Later, proceed towards Aurangabad city, and en-route visit Salim Ali Lake. On reaching, you can explore the beautiful city by taking a stroll around the place. Later in the evening, have dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3 – Aurangabad City Tour
The day 3 is dedicated for Aurangabad tour. After breakfast, proceed towards Daulatabad Fort. Daulatabad is an ancient hill fort situated on the way to Ellora Caves. It is one of the very well preserved forts in Maharashtra and also a best tourist spot in Aurangabad. Then, also visit Bibi ka Maqbara, and Soneri Mahal – the other historic and beautiful places. Then, proceed for your return journey to your onward destination.
