Destinations Covered during Hampta Pass Trek : Manali, Hampta Pass, Chandratal Lake
Brief Itinerary :
Day 1 : Drive from Manali (6,000 ft) – Jobra than trek to Chika (1,0100 ft).
Day 2 : Chika (10,100 ft) – Balu ka Ghera (11,900 ft) .5 hrs easy ascent.
Day 3 : Balu ka Gera (11,900 ft) – Siagoru (12,900 ft) Crossing Hampta Pass (14,100 ft).
Day 4 : Siagoru (12,900 ft) – Chatru (11,000 ft) 4 hrs. Drive to Chandra Tal.
Day 5 : Drive from Chandra tal/Chatru to Manali via the Rohtang Pass.
Detailed Trek Itinerary
Day 1 : Drive from Manali – Jobri – Trek to Chika (10,100 ft).
We will meet at Manali Bus stand and then we will drive from Manali (6000 ft) to Jobri via the Allain Duhangan Hydropower Plant road which have 36 curves and takes around 1 and half to reach Jobri by Tata Sumo. We will have our briefing session and the we start the trek to Chikka our first campsite on Chandratal Lake via Hampta Pass trek. It takes around 2 hours to reach Chikka. Overnight camp at Chika.
Day 2 : Trek from Chika to Balu ka Gera (11,900 ft).
Today’s trek starts with Chika nalah crossing and then gradual ascent to Jwara Nalah which gives a thrilling experiece of River Crossing in ice cold water. While trekking we will be able to see the spectacular Dhauladhar range in the background and once we take right turn after river crossing Indrasan peak in front. We will have our packed lunch after the Jwara Nala with just an hour more to our today’s campsite Balu Ka Gera.
Day 3 : Trek from Balu ka Gera to Siagoru (12,900 ft) Via Hampta Pass (14,100 ft).
Today we will crossing Hampta Pass and entering into Spiti Valley Himachal which is home to Chandratal Lake. As we start our trek with an hours you will have to trek through boulders brought down by snow. The Hampta pass trekking trail is marked by craines “The small towers of stones” which you will notice on your trek. The idea behind these small stone towers to mark the trail so no one can lost the trail and the rule is that from one craine you should see the other one on trekking trail. From Hampta Pass you can see the Indrasan Peak and its gigantic glacier. Today’s trek will take us approximately 8hrs to reach Siagoru. The ascent on this part of the Hampta Pass trek will be moderate.
Day 4 : Trek from Siagoru to Chatru (11,000 ft) 4 hrs. Drive to Chandratal Lake.
Excitement level is high as you will going to Chandratal Lake. Chandratal Chandra Tal meaning the Moon Lake and is named so because of its growing shape. The sweet water lake is in all directions 2.5 km spacious. It is the birthplace of Chandra River which unites with Bhaga River to form Chandrabhaga River which enters in Pakistan as Chenab. The massive mountains of the Pir Panjal and Spiti ranges dominate the entire landscape during the Hampta Pass Trek till the camp site at Chatru. From Chatru we drive to Chandratal Lake beside Chandra River and CB Ranges and also the magnificent Bada Sigri Glacier.
Day 5 : Drive from Chandratal – Manali via the Rohtang Pass.
Get up early morning to get the early monring views of Chandratal Lake and then have your breakfast and we leave for Manali via the Rohtang Pass. Our wonderful experience of trekking Chandratal Lake Camping comes to end.
