One of the most gorgeous trek in Garhwal Himalayas, Chopta Tungnath Chandrashila trek is a delight to all types of travellers, be it bird watchers or mountain seekers or nature seekers. You name it and some or the other part of Chopta trek would have it. The summit climb and forest trails are unmatched. The colourful rhododendrons and the various species of birds would make you want to stay a little longer than you planned.
Even though Tungnath trek can be done all year long with each season adding a uniqueness to this trek, the best time to visit are March and April as the forest is in its full bloom at this time. Starting from Deoriatal, it has one of the beautiful forest trails amongst all the treks there are. The section between Deoriatal lake and Bhrujgali has numerous variety of jungles that you will be stunned that so many varieties of forests actually exist.
While climbing up to Chandrashila, all the summits of Eastern and Western Uttarakhand would pop up one by one. And when we say all, it literally means all. There is no other trek where all of these peaks are approachable so closely from a single peak.
A special mention to the bird lovers, you do not need to travel all the way to Sikkim or to Goechala, as Deoriatal has more birds to witness in a single day that you probably see in the entire Goechala trek. So what are you waiting for, keep calm and take up this trek.
