Deoriatal or Devariatal” is a pleasant short weekend trek which lately has become very popular with trekkers looking for the most bang out of a trek done in a slight longer weekend time. Deoriatal is a beautiful lake with its pristine waters captivating the eternal beauty of Chaukamba 4-3-2, Kedar and Neelkanth peaks. The area is surrounded by forests and green-lands and is one of the most scenic spots to catch breathtaking views of majestic peaks of Garhwal.
Short Itinerary
Day 1 : Haridwar – Chopta ( 210 kms / drive)
Day 2 : Chopta – Tungnath – Chopta ( 7 kms)
Day 3 : Chopta – Sari – Deoriatal ( 1 hr drive / 3 kms trek)
Day 4 : Deoriatal – Sari – Haridwar
Itinerary Details:
Day1 : Haridwar to Deoria Tal Trek
Early morning, our team meets you at Haridwar Railway Station. Today’s journey starts from a drive to Chopta which is around 210 kms and takes around 8 – 9 hours. After reaching Chopta, we set our camps for an overnight stay and prepare for hi-tea. Chopta (2900 m) is known as ‘Mini Switzerland’ of the Garhwal Himalayas, it is situated amidst thick forest of Pine, Deodar and Rhododendrons.
Day 2 : Chopta – Tungnath – Chopta (6-7 kms)
Today is the trek day, after a good hefty breakfast, we leave for Tugnath (3680 m). Tungnath is the world’s highest Shiv temple. From Tungnath we climb to the Summit of Chandrashila*(3950m). At Chandrashila we get a spectacular view of Nandadevi, Trishul, Kedar Peak, Chaukhamba, Bandarpunch. Packed/ Hot lunch will be provided. We descend back to Chopta, our camping site. Overnight stay in camps.
Day 3 : Chopta – Sari Village – Deoriatal (1 hr drive / 3 kms trek)
After a good session of morning exercise followed by breakfast at Chopta, we drive to Sari Village, which takes around 2 hours. After reaching Sari village, we begin our trek to Deoriatal . Deoriatal is at an elevation of 2400 m, which takes around 2-3 hours. The name of the lake originates from its crescent shape. We pass through forests as we trek uphill to reach our destination. Deoria Tal is a beautiful lake which gives a 300 degree panoramic view of great peaks like Chaukhamba, Nilkantha, Bandarpunch, Yellow Tooth, Kedar Range, Kalanag, etc. Overnight camp at Deoria Tal.
Day 4 : Deoriatal – Sari Village – Haridwar (3 kms trek / 215 kms drive)
Starting early today, we drive to Haridwar via Sari Village. Our trip ends at Haridwar Railway station.
