Indrahar Pass is a mountain pass in the Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas. Located at an altitude of 4,342 metres (14,245 ft) above sea level, near the tourist town of Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh, Indrahar pass forms the border between Kangra and Chamba districts. It is part of a very popular trekking route from Dharamshala. It attracts substantial tourist traffic during the trekking season between May–October.
Indrahar pass trail starts from our very own little Tibet of India- Mcleodganj , then further we start from Dharamkot we start our trek towards Triund. Triund trekking trail is steep ascent and takes around 4-5 hours of trekking through dense forest. You can see beautiful views of Dhauladhar range and Kangra valley from Triund meadow.
Small trek from Triund hill to Laka Got is important for acclimatization to the steep rise in altitude. Early morning we start for the Indrahar Pass Trek. From the Indrahar Pass you can have the amazing views of majestic peaks of Pir Panjal range of central Himalayas.
After crossing the Indrahar Pass the trekking trail is a steep descent till Chatta Paroa, and the we proceed having a look at the meadows of Mandara to reach the beautiful village of Kuwarsi. Later Drive to Chamba Town.
Itinerary Brief
Day 01: Trek from Mcleodganj to Triund
Day 02: Trek from Triund hill to ILaka Got/Lahesh Caves (5 Kms, 4 Hrs)
Day 03: Trek from Lahesh Caves to Indrahar Pass and Return (10 Kms, 7Hrs)
Day 04: Trek from Lahesh Caves to Mcleodganj (12 Kms, 6Hrs)
Detailed Itinerary
Day 01 : Mcleodganj
Trek from Dharamkot to Triund Hill (9 Kms, 6 Hrs)
Mcleodganj and explore this little Tibet of India and Dalai Lama’s abode. Mcleodganj offers great environment to connect with nature and a chance to imbibe the Tibetan culture. Have your breakfast and we will start walking towards Bhagsu Nag and from Dharamkot follow the well laid trekking trail towards Triud. Triund trekking trail is steep ascent and takes around 4-5 hours of trekking through dense forest of oak, pine, rhododendron and deodar trees. We will have our packed lunch at a beautiful spot on the triund trekking. Arrive at Triund hill and check into forest lodge or set up our camp. You can see beautiful views of Dhauladhar range and Kangra valley from Triund meadow.
Day 02 : ILaka Got (Laka Glacier)
Trek from Triund hill to ILaka Got / Lahesh Caves (6 Kms, 4 Hrs)
After breakfast we trek from Triund to Lahesh Caves crossing SnowLine Cafe and Ilaga Got. It is steep climb on a rocky route. We reach Lahesh Caves where trekkers can stay inside the caves if they are vacant otherwise we will pitch our tents.
Day 03 : Indrahar Pass
Trek from Lahesh Caves to Indrahar Pass Trek and return. (9 Kms, 7Hrs)
After an early breakfast we start the Indrahar Pass Trek. If we start early then we get enough time to enjoy the stunning views from the Indrahar Pass. From the Indrahar Pass you can have the amazing views of majestic peaks of Pir Panjal range of central Himalayas. If you want to enjoy snow trekking then till June you will be trekking through snow glaciers. After crossing the Indrahar Pass the trekking trail is a steep descent till Chatta Paroa where we will camp today.
Day 04 : Mcleodganj
Trek from Ilaqa Got to Mcleodganj (12 Kms, 6Hrs)
After few kilometers of downhill trek through the thick forest and marked trail we descend to Dharamkot and our trek comes to end with mosaic of beautiful memories.
