Places Covered : Manali – Keylong – Sarchu – Leh.
Day 01: Arrive Manali
On arrival Manali transfer to hotel. Day free, evening walk around local market.
Overnight stay at the hotel
Depart Manali early in the morning our first halt is Marhi A barren landscape offering extensive views of the valley and the mountains. We proceed to Rohtang Pass 3790 M is most popular with visitors, being one of the highest road point and gateway to LAHAUL and SPITI valleys. Pass remains closed during winter due to heavy snow from November end to May end. Visitors can drive upto MARHI below ROHTANG with similar high altitude topography, forest of Birch, Fir and Spurce. Once we cross the Rohtang Pass border we are in the Barren Himalayas with the landscape completely changing Khoksar is the first village and gate way to Lahaul Night stay in Keylong. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Get prepared for the most interesting overland high altitude drive up to Leh. May take approx 10 hours. You will arrive at Darcha ( 3500 Meter) is situated at the junction of Yotche Nullah and the Zangskar chhu which takes off from the Shinkun la. Both these nullahs meet with the main river Bhaga at this place. This is the main point for the trek lovers wish to enter in Zanskar valley or up to Leh.
Your drive from this place will take to BaraLacha Pass ( 1620 Ft) and further drive to Sarchu which is nearly the mid point of Manali Leh route. Check in at your Deluxe Camp and spend a beautiful evening at the High altitude camp
After early breakfast leave for Leh en-route crossing Nakeela and Lachalung-la Pass (16,617 ft.). Break for lunch at Pang and then drive on towards Leh passing through Skyangchu Thang (a vast plateau stretching for 42 kms) and then crossing Taglang-La (17,585ft) and driving through the upper Indus Valley. Reach Leh by evening. Your further drive will take you to Upsi by crossing river Indus and follow the highway up to Leh. Check in at your hotel and overnight stay
Day 05 In Leh:
You have a relaxed day by exploring Shanti Stupa + Shnkar Gompa + Leh palace + Namgyal Gompa and further drive in the west of Leh by visiting Kali Mata Temple / Pathar Sahib / Magnetic hill and Sangam ( Confluence of Zanskar and Indus River).
Retrace back to Leh and spend the evening in the colorful market of Leh. Dinner and overnight stay at your hotel.
Morning get prepared to see Khardong-La (40 kms / alt: 18,380 ft.), highest motorable pass in the world and recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records . Offers an incredible view of Leh valley and Stok kangri group of Peaks ( 6150 M) at the back drop of Leh valley. Differs Leh Valley and Nubra Valley which used to be the Silk Route to Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Descend from the top to reach at Nubra valley which is a wide lush green valley situated in the bank of Tsyok river. You have option to stay either at left bank around Diskit monastery or Hunder village or Sumur area by crossing Tsyok river around Panamic Hot spring water.
Explore monastery and Sand dunes at Hunder. You have opportunity to have a two hump bacterian camel at this place. Spend the overnight at hotel or Deluxe Camp.
Morning start drive to another section of Nubra valley called sumur way to Siachen Glacier and at a certain point restricted due to Army deployment. Explore Samastaling monastery in Sumur and hot spring water at Panamic. Retrace back to Leh over Khardungla pass and overnight at hotel in Leh .
After leisurely breakfast drive North east of Leh to reach at Pangong Lake. Enroute worth visiting Shey Palace and Thikse monasteries enroute. Further up hill drive from Upsi crossing the Chang-la pass (alt: 17370 ft.). you will descend towards Pangong lake can be seen from a distance once you are nearer to the Lake. Check in at your Camp and rest of the day for your photography and watching this magnificent lake. Dinner and overnight at Pangong lake.
Have a beautiful sunrise breakfast and retrace back to Upsi. Cross the river Indus by gollwing a deep gorge uphill drive will take you the biggest monastery of this region called Hemis. Hemis festival is famous for its mask dance and the longest Tanka rituals. Explore the best of this monastery and drive back to Leh. Check in at your hotel and rest of the day for your leisure or personal activities in town. Another overnight stay at Leh.
After breakfast you will get transferred to the airport in time to board flight for onward destination. Or you may have other program to explore more of Ladakh or further drive to Srinagar in Kashmir.
