“If there is heaven on earth, it is here, it is here, it is here.” Trekking in Kashmir is just like walking on foot in this heaven with nothing but just pure bliss around you. One such trek that is without a doubt one of the prettiest trek in India is Kashmir Great Lakes Trek. Many treks are there who are in tough competition with this one in terms of beauty but the KGL trek always come out a winner.
After all, not all treks greet you with five beautiful alpine lakes one for each day competing with one another that which one is prettier. So this trek keeps you excited all around as each day there is a new pretty lake waiting for you.
These alpine lakes are fed by snow patches at some point which makes this site a true heaven on earth. You can literally see them sliding off the mountains and entering into the lake. It truly is a divine site and is even better if you get to witness a whole milky white iceberg sliding into the lake’s inky blue waters.
And seriously, it is not over yet. Not just the lake but its lush green, grassy shores makes this a site from dreams and wonderlands where angels and gods used to live in ancient times. Walking on these grassy shores is a pure trekking bliss and would make you want wo do this trek again and again.
Oh! But it’s not over yet. Last but not the least are the stunning meadows of Kashmir that are there to make your everyday better and better. Present in every shape and size, you sometimes get to witness multiple meadows in a single day. You just can’t ask for more. But there is more. With first day starting with pine and maple grown like an oasis amidst the meadows, you move on to a descending valley where sheep graze and horses run on the second day. The third day is a wild day with wildflowers all over the meadows and on fourth day, the plains of Satsar would look twinkly and grassy.
