Every year, there are about 30,000 to 1,50,000 meteors that plunge towards our planet Earth, but how many times it manages to create a crater? Almost never and therefore the Lonar Lake is the “Only Hypervelocity Crater on Earth” which was created by a Meteor Impact almost 52,000 years ago. Not only this, it is the third largest crater lake in the world and so Lonar Crater Exploration has to be a must in your bucket of trips this year.
Lonar Lake is a saline soda lake and is located at Lonar in Buldhana district, Maharashtra, India. The lake that lies in the basalt impact structure , is both alkaline and saline in nature. The lake is a known haven for a wide range of animal and plant life. There are both Resident as well as migratory birds and hence it is one of the best place to be for bird lovers. You can witness birds like black-winged stilts, grebes, brahminy ducks, shelducks (European migrants), herons, shovellers, teals etc. The lake is also home to thousands of peafowls, chinkara and gazelles. The lonar lake is not just about nature. Other attraction over here is its wonderful temples around which revolves around the legend of Lonar.

ITINERARY
Day 0 :
Night Departure to Jalna by Devgiri express on Friday night at 9.05 pm (CST timing)
Day 1 :
Early Morning reach Jalna by 05:00 am. Proceed to Buldhana district by a private vehicle. EnRoute halt for a cup of hot tea. Breakfast on reaching Lonar, check in the hotel and enjoy a Know each-other session. After Freshening up head towards a small trek down to Lonar crater and enjoy bird watching and photography in nearby location. Back to hotel. Have lunch and rest till evening. Enjoy sunset at Lonar. Have refreshment and discuss about things around. Lights off for a tight sleep in Lonar.
Day 2 :
Early morning wakeup-call and head for breakfast. Briefing about the greatness of Lonar crater will be done by one of the special guides from the village. The guide knows in and out of that area and there will be no information left for you to know after meeting him. Check Out from the hotel. Proceed to legendary Parikrama trek to Asia’s one of the largest craters. Enjoy the combination of shining sun rays, blue-green water, lush greenery around lake and the hide n seek of clouds in the sky. Finish Parikrama and explore the Daityasudan Temple and nearby temples & cultural heritage of Lonar in and about 4 Hrs. Have Lunch and Leave from Lonar. En-route visit and explore the Rajmata Jijabai Birthplace. Reach Jalna by 07-08 pm. Board Nandigram Express at 8.15 pm from Jalna and reach Mumbai by 5.40 am (CST timing)
