15th June - 2 students from Oxford University are going to prepare for climbing Mt. Blanc and Mt.Matterhorn to raise money for a school in South Africa called streetlight schools. Adam and Tarun Varma both an MBA student at Oxford University started climbing at a very early age. They both were inspired from their respective parents to climb snow capped peaks. And since then, they never left climbing. Climbing requires presence of mind and quick decision making. The challenges pose needs problem solving skills. These also apply to real life. So when Adam and Tarun were introduced to street light schools, a new school that just opened in South Africa, they both were pleased. Its learning model allows students to learn traditional teaching methodologies with student empowerment to drive the excitement for self-directed learning in them. The students are expected to take responsibility and to engage with their learning process for what they know and for their actions.

Following this, both of them are climbing to raise funds of £15,000 to support Streetlight Schools’ first year of operations. From 30th June to 5th July 2016 Adam Storck is climbing Mt Blanc and the Matterhorn to raise money for Streetlight Schools in Johannesburg, South Africa. The team comprises Tarun Varma, American Investor Whitney Tilson, and former US Navy SEAL Mark James.
