The Indian men’s junior cycling team has been ranked number one according to the latest ratings of Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).

These ratings are updated every three months and the national team has jumped from the 11th spot to number one with 1012.5 points. The countries at second and third are Poland and South Korea with 960 and 900 points respectively.
Onkar Singh, General Secretary of the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), said, “You have just seen the history in making.” The most amazing part is that this feat is achieved in just two and a half years as when the federation started working in 2013, the team was ranked at 149th position.

One of the member of Squad, Sanuraj reached top ten rankings in the Keirin event. Women are no less than men after all. Cyclist Anu Chotia holds two top-20 rankings as per the UCI, at No. 8 in the individual 500m time trial and 19th in the Sprint category.
Mr. Singh also added,”Rio qualification didn’t go as per plan, but our goal still is 2020 Tokyo, I’m confident we will win a medal at that particular event, considering our growth as of now.” Well! Fingers crossed and hope for the best.
