‘Unstoppable isn’t the one, who never stop.
No matter whom you are, life will always find ways to stop you in your tracks.
Unstoppable isn’t the one, who denies to stop.
Unstoppable is the one, who rises up after being beaten down to ashes.’
Arjun Vajpai was on cloud 9 when he summit Mt. Makalu on 23rd of May at 12:24pm. He finally concurred Mt. Makalu in his 4th attempt after 3 back to back failures. The deadly earthquake of Nepal which triggered avalanche, backing out due to short of ropes, death of team member, Arjun has seen it all in his failure. Though being an asthma patient, Arjun was determined enough to scale Mt. Makalu and he did it!
"I have a great team with me with one teammate from Catalonia and the other from Austria. They have been extremely helpful in getting through this technically challenging peak," he says. "There are many concerns of high-altitude climbing. There's water seeping into your brain and lungs at this height. And Mt Makalu is a really tough climb. My teammate, Ferran, has made four attempts before this one and he has scaled 12 of the 14 toughest mountains in the world!"
Arjun is 3rd youngest mountaineer to concur Mt. Everest in 2010. Makalu is said to be tougher than Mt. Everest as there are no porters to carry weight and there are no fixed ways like Everest. As a result, the death toll here is double compared to Everest.
The view, undoubtedly, is worth every bit of the challenge. "On one side you have a steep fall into Nepal and the other side is another into Tibet. You just keep looking at the summit then because looking anywhere else could cost you your life."
