A fourteen members Altitude Trekking expedition team of Golden Key Division, flagged off by Major Gen SC Mohanty, General Officer Commanding Golden Key Division, successfully trekked a distance of 152 km from Tabo (Himachal Pradesh) to Kiato along the higher reaches of Himalayan Hills. They returned to Dehradun on July 12, 2016.
Their journey of being expedite started from Dehradun as they went through Spiti Valley via Tabo and reached to their decisive point that is Kiato. The cherry on the cake is that on the way, the expedition negotiated the inhospitable heights of Dhar Lung Wooh (15400 feet) and Ladarcha (14355 feet).
The expedition was meant to inculcate a spirit of adventure and overcome challenges of weather and terrain as stated by the army officials. The team re-collected with the veterans and also met and interacted with the locals, As per the army, the expedition also motivated the young and aspiring youth by undertaking motivational talks on 'becoming a better Indian', 'joining the Army' as well as 'women empowerment'. Souvenirs & motivational badges were distributed to the students of government schools by the Trekking team. This made the journey more memorable for them and aspiring and motivating trek for everyone.
