Manali:  In an attempt to set a record, motorists from all over are driving or riding on Manali-Leh-Khardung La, the highest motor able road. The amount of self-drivers have increased at Manali-Leh road, where over 100 bikes are leaving for Ladakh in June and at times it surpasses to 400 bikes a day. The number of two wheeler vehicles is more compared to the four wheeler vehicles. This rush has encouraged the hoteliers in Manali, Lahaul, Sarchu and Ladakh.

Rick Brown, a 70-year-old American, made world record when he reached 18,380ft high Khardung La in his 1923 made Silver Ghost Rolls Royce vintage car. To set a world record, biker Moksha Jaitley, continued her ride without any halt from Leh to Manali in 20 hours.

Not only professionals, but many newbies are also attempting this and we have witnessed a rise in road accidents too this year."

"Mostly adventure seeking people visit Ladakh. They are insane and ready to risk lives. Trend of self-driving and biking to Ladakh is increasing every year. Everyone wants to share with their friends that they drove their car or rode their bike on the highest motor able passes of the world" said another operator Tsering Samphel.
