14th June - It is moment of let-down for people who are planning to getaway to Himachal Pradesh this week as the employees of Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has called a strike from Monday night till Wednesday. Unless you are driving or planning to hire a car, you have to cancel the plans due to replicas relojes the strikes as the employees demand for regularization of contract staff and protection of pension benefits.
This means that around 8,000 employees will be off duty and so 2,500 of the state’s buses will not hit the Himachal roads. Since it is the peak season and people wish to visit the plains to escape from the heat, around 10,000 to 15,000 tourists are expected from states like Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Chandigarh to visit Shimla and other nearby destinations .But, the strike shall affect the Himachal tourism badly.
Not only this, the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) employees have threatened to stop the operations of chartered and other states’ roadway buses till Wednesday night.
There is a ray of hope as the Transport Minister G S Bali has appealed to call off the strike and assured the employees that their demands would be accepted.
