Destinations Covered : Tumling, Singalila Nation al Park,Sandakphu Peak
Here’s a Short Itinerary :
Day 1 : New Jalpaiguri to Jaubari (8340 feet, 88 Kms, 3 – 4Hour Drive)
Day 2 : Jaubari to Tumling (9600 feet ,9 Kms, 5 Hours)
Day 3 : Tumling to Kalipokhari (9875 feet ,12 Kms , 6 Hours)
Day 4 : Kalipokhri to Sandakphu (11930 feet , 7 Kms , 4 Hours)
Day 5 : Sandakphu to Sabargram (11810 feet ,14 KMS , 8 Hours)
Day 6 : Sabargram to Gorkhey via Phalut (7600 feet , 21 Kms , 9 Hours)
Day 7 : Gorkhey to Sepi to NJP ( 15 Kms trek and 7 hrs drive).
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 : New Jalpaiguri to Jaubari (8340 feet, 88 Kms, 3 – 4Hour Drive)
The very first day we will meet at New Jalpaiguri railway station at 7:00 in the morning for our journey. Today’s journey from NJP to Jaubhari will take around 4-5 hours. Enroute we will stop for breakfast and also get fresh for the rest of the journey. Reach Jaubhari in the afternoon and after resting,
Day 2 : Jaubari to Tumling (9600 feet ,9 Kms, 5 Hours)
On Day 2, we will start our trek to Tumling after a hot and fresh breakfast. The trek graident is moderate and is a steep climb and takes around 5 hours but rain can act like a hindrance, if any. It’s a rocky path with muddy puddles and areas. As we climb up from Jaubhari on the trail, we will reach Upper Chittrey, from where we can see all the villages and the mountains and this section ends with Chittrey Monastery. After this the walk becomes more steep and the path goes through forests until Lamyadhura which opens into a beautiful grassland, after this there is 3km hike to Meghma which leads to Tolung, which is only 2km long road leading to Tumling. You can fill up your water bottles at Chittrey, Lamyadhura and Meghma. We plan to reach Tumling by early afternoon.
Day 3 : Tumling to Kalipokhari (9875 feet ,12 Kms , 6 Hours)
The second day, we will follow the same routine of morning exercise, breakfast and our trek leader will brief about today’s trek schedule. Today will trek for around 13 km’s to Tumling campsite to Kalipokhri. Along the trek route, you will able to see peaks of Kumbhakarna, Kangchenjunga and Simvo in the landscape. Below Kangchenjunga are Koktang, Rathong, Frey, South Kabru, North Kabru, Kabru Forked, Goecha and the ridge of Pandim just ahead of Simvo. The route will go through Singalila National Park and go directly to Gabrias, a small village and then Kaiyakatta. 2 hours away from Kaiyakatta, we have our destination of the day, Kalipokhri. We will pitch our tents and try your hand in Night Long exposure photography.
Day 4 : Kalipokhri to Sandakphu (11930 feet , 7 Kms , 4 Hours)
Today we will go trekking from Kalipokhri to Sandakphu which takes around 3 hours, the trek gradient is easy to moderate. The trek is rewarding through open meadows and panaromic views of snow capped peaks like Makalu, Lhotse, Everest, Nuptse, Baruntse, Chamling, Chomolonzo, Machapucchare and other peaks of the Annapurna range . After trekking for about 3 hours we will reach the camp relish on delicious lunch prepared by our team and enjoy the views of the pristine trek in the Himalayas.
Day 5 : Sandakphu to Sabargram (11810 feet ,14 KMS , 8 Hours)
Today we would start early as a lot of distance needs to be covered and the route gradient is moderate. After our healthy breakfast and packed lunch, we will start the today’s route to Sabargram where you will encounter scenery and diversity of flora and fauna. After approximately 1.5 hours, you will reach Thukumb checkpost and the following trail will take you towards Sabargram. After a stretch of 3-4 hours, you will reach your campsite for today, the forest checkpost for Sabargram.
Day 6 : Sabargram to Gorkhey via Phalut (7600 feet , 21 Kms , 9 Hours)
Today we will trek to Gorkhey where you will enjoy the best views of Kanchenjunga while trekking to Phalut. Today’s trek is around 6 hours long where we have to cover around 16 kms on a moderatey difficult trek. The trek from Sabargram to Phalut will take around 2 hours via a zigzag route and then we will reach Phalut, a small grassland with no vegetation. Descending from Phalut, we can view Pandim, Tenzingkhang, Japanu, and Narsing. Today’s trek ends in Gorkhey village, enjoy the views and enter Sikkim via the bridge across Gorkhey river.
Day 7 : Gorkhey to Sepi to NJP ( 15 Kms trek and 7 hrs drive).
Today’s trek is mostly easy and will take around 4-5 hours to complete. Start early from Gorkhey and reach Sepi via Ramam where we can refill your water bottles. On our way you will come across the beautiful village of Samamden. The route to Ramam to Sepi is mostly full of descents. We will reach Sepi by 1 pm, after a hot lunch we depart for NJP.
