Perfect destination for island camping and swimming on one of the shallowest water beauty of Karnataka is none other than jog falls. This place is around 400 kms from Bangalore and perfect outing destination which gives you relief from all stress and strain.
This back water is formed due to construction of Linganamakki Dam constructed on the Sharavathi River and outlet of water is used for generation of Hydro Power and then let in to World famous Jog Falls.
Before the construction of the Dam this water would pass through second highest plunge waterfalls of India which is Jog Falls and then creates another fall at Gersoppa and merges with Arabian Sea at Honavara.
Construction of the dam by Sir.M.Vishveswariah for hydel power generation and use of water for Irrigation, this water from Sharavathi River was blocked creating backwaters by submerging many mountains and villages forming many tiny Islands. The length of the backwaters is 65 kms and the width is 15 kms and depth is very shallow or frankly unknown.
This backwaters is originated in Thirthalli by stream Ambu Tirtha and flows through the Western Ghats as Sharavathi on the joins many tributaries and finally into Linganamakki Dam of Sagara Taluk of Shimoga Dist of Karnataka State.
We conduct camping in the islands of Sharavathi just as in like Honnemardu we do Have Campsite near the water bodies of Sharavathi River. Our program starts not just with Camping but also includes activities like bonfire camping with Sleeping Bag Accommodation in Tents followed by water sports like Boating, kayaking and swimming with life jackets and trekking and do offer other adventure games like Zip line and Jummaring.
On camping on a clear day one can get the beautiful view of Constellation and enjoy the Camping with Bonfire and wake up early morning and view one of the best Sunrise on the background of water surrounded by 4 corners.
Post completion of the above camping we can head towards World Famous Jog falls which is the second highest plunge water falls in India and this fall is created by Sharavathi River falling from the height of 900 plus Feet close to one kilometre.
The River Sharavathi, flowing over a rocky bed about 300 yards wide, gushes with High Currents and archives a tremendous chasm, 290 m (960 ft) deep, and the water comes down in four distinct falls. By name Raja, Rocket, Roller and Rani. We also organize the trek at jog falls wherein we take our clients to the view points of jog i.e.; the trek to Raja Falls and then to the Rani falls and finally the main view.
