Shivgange Night Trek – An Effortless Yet Truly Magnificent Trek

Shivgange, which literally translates to Shiv’s Ganga, is alsofamous by the name of Dakshina Kashi and has great religious significance amongst the local population. Located at a distance of about 56 kms from the city of Bangalore, near the quaint little village of Dobbspet, this destination is frequented by adventure seekers looking for a relaxing and refreshing weekend getaway.

Trekking is one of the most popular activities enjoyed by the visitors coming to this place, with the option of Shivgange night trekking being almost as popular, if not more, as the day trekking option. The activity which is completed within a single night, offers an easy difficulty level making the activity enjoyable even for people with minimal trekking experience. The participants are required to trek up to the top of the Shivgange hill which takes on different mythological forms when viewed from different directions.

The thrill of traversing over the rugged hilly terrain under the starlit sky while enjoying the magnificent night-time view of thousands of lights shimmering like stars in the surroundings is surely breathtaking. However, the biggest reward awaits the trekkers upon reaching the hill top. The 8 kms long trek ends with a campfire in the early morning hours on the hill top after which the trekkers get to rest for a few hours before waking up to the beauty of the rising sun.

Tentative Itinerary:

09:30 PM Pick up starts from Bangalore
12:30 AM Reach Shivgange base, small briefing about the trek and then later start the night trek for 02 hours( 03 kms)
02:30 AM Reach the peak and start the campfire.
06:30 AM Wake up and after watching the sunrise descend to the base .
08:30 AM Reach base camp, freshen up and have breakfast then later start the water activities like Swimming and Kayaking.
10:00 AM Head back to Bangalore
11:00 AM Reach back to Bangalore
