Pahalgam is a small town located in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. A major destination where snow skiing is undertaken heavily, the place is very popular among all the regions of western Himalayas.
This world famous hill station is 45 km. from the District Headquarters at Anantnag and located on the banks of Lidder River at an altitude of 7200 ft. from sea level. Pahalgam is one among the five tehsils of Anantnag district and tehsil headquarters are located in the main town of Pahalgam.
At an altitude of 2,130m and about 95-km from Srinagar.
Pahalgam is situated at the junction of the Aru and Sheshnag Rivers and surrounded by soaring, fir-covered mountains with bare, snow-capped peaks rising behind them. The Aru flows down from the Kolahoi glacier beyond Lidderwat while the Sheshnag from glaciers along the great Himalayan.

Pahalgam has a cool and pleasant climate in summers and very cold climate in winters and the best season for adventure is from April to October.
Winters (November to March) are chilly and snow bound. The minimum mercury level goes below sub-zero levels and the region mostly covers receives fresh snowfall. The views of the landscape are excellent with snow covered hilly terrains.
Summers (March to June) are warm and pleasant. The temperature in this hilly region ranges between 11°C and 25°C. Intermittent showers are seen during this period. There is no snowfall but snow can be found on high altitudes.
Monsoons (July to September) are very scanty. The region becomes highly humid during this period.
