Adventure At Devarayana Durga

This is a rocky terrain at a distance of around 85kms from Bangalore on Pune Bangalore Expressway near Dabaspet, this terrain as series of mountain ranges starting from Devarayana Durga and goes on until Nandi hills of chikballapur.

This place attracts many Devotees for the ancient temples built there worshiping YogaNarasimha swamy. And also one of the ideal trekking and rock climbing place. The trek route at this place is moderately challenging making it an ideal destination for day trekking and picnicking.

Devarayanadurga by name called Fortress consist of ancient temples on the base and peak and also there is a stone carves mantapa at the peak, trek to that gives an awesome experience as you can a glorified view of nearby villages and also can spot Shivgange Hills of Dabaspet town.On the hills there is another historical place by name called Namada Chilume, which natural spring is arising from the mountain and also there is deer park, at a distance of just 4kms from Devarayana Durga.

History about Namada Chilume tells us during tretha yuga lord Rama on his way back to Ayodhya rested here alongside Lakshmana and mother Sita, on one fine day, when he wanted to apply nama (white bars on the head and forearms), he couldn’t find water nearby and hence he shot an arrow in to the mountains and water started to spring from that place and hence that place is believed as sacred and even worshiped and attracts many travellers and devotees.

Also the forest dept maintains a small garden and deer park at this place, there are about 100+ deer’s maintained and protected by the forest of Karnataka. To view so many deer’s at one place gives a pleasant relief for the visitors to forget their stress and strain of day to day life, and most of the deer’s here are chintals.

Nearby places to Devarayana Durga is the Shivgange Hills of Dabaspet, it is an Challenging Trek and also there are many temples on the center and peak of the mountain and there is a Secret Cave Passage in the middle of hills which enroots towards Srinagar of Bangalore used as escape route by the rulers.
