Hemis National Park in Ladakh is home to varied species of animals, the major attraction being the snow leopards which every year pulls a large number of animal lovers and adventurists from all over the world. Stretching at an elevation of 4100 meters, it cover up almost the entire Rumbak valley. The national park is home to a lot of animals including Himalayan Birds, Tibetan wolves, Horned sheep, Blue sheep, Eurasian Brown Bear etc.
One of the popular winter trek in Ladakh region, Snow Leopard Trek in Ladakh is a trek full of surprises where there would be a brand new experience at every turn. For bird watchers, it is like a heaven and distant dream coming true right there and then. Imagine watching Golden Eagle, Lammergeier vulture, the Himalayan Griffon vulture and many more birds in a pollution and noise free environment where there is only one sound and that is the music of nature.
The best time to do this trek is between November and March. The winter in Ladakh is frigid in nature but the possibility to witness this grey ghost of Himalayas is very high with an average of 75 percent success rate. So enjoy the beautiful views of Himalayas, witness the lovely blend of unique flora and fauna and spot these rare exotic wonders of nature.

Day 1 : Arrive at Leh and Rest for Acclimatization
Day 2 : Drive to Zingchen & Trek to Rumbak
Day 3 : Trek from Rumbak to Yurutse Via Stok La
Day 4-7 : Snow Leopard Trail Exploration Days
Day 8 : Drive back to Leh
Day 9 : Return Flight to Delhi
Detailed trek itinerary
Day 1 : Arrive at Leh and Rest for Acclimatization
Arrive at Leh & transfer to your hotel after the welcome tea. Rest for acclimatization and after lunch join our local crew for a briefing session and after that you are free to explore Leh market on your own but please ensure that you keep it physically light. Overnight in the hotel.
Day 2 : Drive to Zingchen & Trek to Camp
We drive on Leh Manali Road and after crossing the bridge at Phey start the snow leopard trekking towards the Zingchen Gorge. This gorge forms the entry gate to the Snow Leopard’s high altitude home in Hemis National Park. Enroute the snow leopard trekking trail once can see pug marks and signs of other wildlife. Camp at wildlife study camp. Trekking time: approx 5-6 hrs. Elevation: 12,400′
Day 3 : Wildlife Viewing
During the winter months snow leopard descend to lower altitude so there are high chances that you will see signs of Snow Leopard during today’s full day tracking of snow leopard. Hemis National Park is home to other wild life of Ladakh like Blue Sheep, Argali, Ibex, Tibetan wolf and other migratory birds. After the full day exploration we return to camp share our experiences over the hot cup of Tea and Snacks. Overnight Camp.
Day 4-7 : Snow Leopard Trail Exploration Days
We will be trekking to nearby sites where Snow Leopard have been sighted recently and visit village Rumbak and stay overnight in cosy Ladakhi Homestays.
Day 8 : Trek to Zingchen and drive back to Leh
It’s time to say goodbye to the superb hospitality of Ladakhis and trek down to same snow leopard trail to the road head drive back to Leh. In the evening we will meet at bonfire to share our experiecens and feedback. Overnight in a hotel.
Day 9 : Return Flight to Delhi
