Key Features of the Trek
> Yuksum, Bakhim, Tshoka, Dzongri, Tsokha, Yuksom, Darjeeling
Meeting Time and Place : Details will be provided to the registered participants 15 days prior to the event at the pre-camp meeting.
Itinerary
Day 01 : 20 May' 2017: Arrive NJP / Bagdogra Airport : Meet the guide at the airport and drive to Kalimpong (80 km / 3 hrs drive). Overnight hotel.
Day 02 : Drive to Yuksum from Kalimpong - evening walk to yuksum Coronation site, Ani Gompa - o/n in Yuksum.
Day 03 : Trek Starts: Yuksum - Sachen (Alt 2750 M) Camp: Trek from Yuksum to Bakhim 14 kms time taken approx 6 hrs, walking through dense forest of pine and oak after crossing river Prek Chu it is straight 70 degree uphill climb, after reaching Sachen o/n at tented camp
Day 04 : Sachen- Bakhim - Tshoka (Alt 3050 M) Camp: Trek and trail strats from Bakhim passes through magnolia and rhododendron trees- Tshoka a small village - view of Mount Pandim, Aralunchong, Lamba-Lamini, o/n in Wooden Hut.
Day 05 : Tshoka - Dzongri (Alt 4020 M) Camp: Trek from Tshoka to Dzongri approx 5 hrs- we go through dense forest of rhododendrons- 400 flowering species- reach Phethang for break - after Phethang further trek we reach Dzongri- o/n in Wooden Hut
** Here acclimatization is must for further ascending trekkers
Day 06 : Dzongri (4030M) - Excursion to Laxmi Pokhari: Early rises can get up to climb to a vantage point on a ridge above the campsire to watch sunrise in Khangchendzonga, Kabru, Pandim, Rathong and may peaks of the Khangchendzonga range - full day excursion to Laxmi Pokhari - o/n in Dzongri, O/N at Wooden Hut
Day 07 : Dzongri - Tsokha (camp) : on this day early morning one can savor views of the mountain peaks by climbing upto Dzongri top - from here you can get a panaromic view of Kabru (7353M), Ratong (6678 M), Kanchenjanga (8534 M), Koktang (6147 M), Pandim (6691 M), Narsingh (5825 M)- towards west the Singalila Ridge - o/n stay in wooden Hut.
Day 08 : Tsokha - Yuksom : Now we will be retracing our steps as we return downhill to Yuksom - it is a steep 4000ft descent and takes about 7 hrs - evening we bid farewell during a gathering with the porters and all the trekking staff - o/n at hotel.
Day 09 : Yuksom - Pelling : After breakfast drive from Yuksom to Pelling via visit Khecheopalri Lake - 0/n in hotel
Day 10 : Pelling - Darjeeling : After breakfast transfer from Pelling to Darjeeling (110 km / 4 hrs)- evening free for shopping, mall - o/n hotel.
Day 11 : Early morning tour to Tiger Hills (4am) to view sunrise over Kanchenjanga, back to hotel, breakfast and then check-out, start return journey towards airport at 10am, reach bagdogra by 11.45am, fly out
