Rarely do we get an opportunity to witness something extra-ordinary and yet short-lived. Drive down with us to the little known Velas beach in Maharasthra, where endangered Olive Ridley turtles visit and lays eggs. Your heart will fill with melancholy and delight when you see the newly hatched baby turtles take their maiden walk into the sea, towards freedom of life.
Mumbai, our beloved maximum city weaves a familiar shot-lived tale of chaos, fame, sorrow and joy. Here we work through the week waiting for the weekend, when all of us dream for an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. We have meticulously arranged for all experience seekers, a beautifully curated extended weekend road trip plan, a couple of hours away from the city, to escape the chaos of city life!
We will start our road trip early in the morning, crossing the serene beaches of Kashid and Srivardhan on our way. This adventure filled road trip will take you past some amazing terrain and the winding ocean roads make this journey an amazing affair. After stopping by and feeding our eyes to the spectacular view of Murud Janjira, the majestic island fort, we will head to our final destination, Velas.
The Velas turtle festival takes place every year between the months of March and April. Apart from the festival, this place is all about its pristine beaches, temples and forts. A well planned road trip is decorous to explore the coastal sprawl of this quaint little beach town in Ratnagiri.
And so, we will be embarking on a trip to Ratnagiri – home to the king of Indian mangoes – the Alphanso, where we will visit an organic mango farm and treat ourselves to the superior authentic taste of this fruit. On our last day, we will go and visit the ruins of Bankot Fort, which is settled by the bay, and offers a beautiful view of the beach surrounded by a forest at one side. This is an apt place to feed the soul of all shutterbugs. Sulk and sway in happiness and create everlasting memories.
Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1
07:00 AM: Meet at Kalamboli McDonalds (before the pune expressway)
07:10 AM: Start Riding/Driving towards Velas. Pass Kashid Beach on the way.
12:00 PM: Reach Murud Janjira & explore the majestic Fort.
02:30 PM: Start riding/driving towards Velas.
06:00 PM: Reach the Homestay at Velas and retire to your rooms to freshen up.
07:00 PM: Hi-Tea. Later participate in Games and other activities arranged around the camp fire.
09:00 PM: Dinner
10:00 PM: Retire for the night
Day 2
05:30 AM: Wakeup call
06:00 AM: Proceed towards Velas Beach to spot Oliver Ridley Turtles
08:00 AM: Start driving/riding back to the Homestay.
08:30 AM: Breakfast
09:30 AM: Leave Homestay and prepare yourself for a fun day out visiting Mango, Cashew and Spices Farms
01:00 PM: Reach Homestay and have delicious Lunch
02:00 PM: Relax by the beach or take an afternoon nap
05:30 PM: Start riding/driving towards the Turtle Beach for the second sighting of the baby turtles
08:30 PM: Return to the Homestay.
09:00 PM: Enjoy your dinner.
10:00 PM: Retire for the night.
Day 3
05:30 AM: Wakeup call
06:00 AM: Proceed towards Velas Beach for a final sighting of the Oliver Ridley Turtles
08:30 AM: Breakfast
09:45 AM: Start your journey to visit Bankot Fort
12:00 PM: Lunch and packing of all things and gears back at the Homestay
02:00 PM: Start for your return journey to Mumbai.
