Experience Scuba Diving When You Arrive In Goa

 

Scuba diving is essentially a type of underwater diving wherein you will use a self-containing gas tank which provides you air to be breathed without any contact to the water’s surface. This means you can be underwater for longer can go deeper in the water.  This activity is understood to be one of the few things that need to be on every adventurer’s bucket list.

 

Where Is It Available On The Island?

 

There are various options to choose from as far as scuba diving in Goa go- depending on your level of experience and the visibility in the water. A few popular ones include the SS Mary spot which lies close to the Grande Island, the St George’s Island and Bogmalo Beach.

 

How Do I Go About This?

 

Usually, scuba diving involves training for some time, and if you are an experienced diver- then all you need to do is carry your valid certification. On the other hand, if you are wary of the waters, then there are professional trainers who will make sure you are ready and well equipped to dive. The only thing you really need is enthusiasm!

 

Tips From Fellow Travelers

 

  • Do not scuba-dive on the day just immediate of your arrival.  Settle down first, this way you will be more relaxed and will enjoy your time underwater more.

 

  • Explore all the packages available before you invest in any one- locally you may find the price to cheaper than online.

 

  • If young kids are accompanying you, then find out in advance if the experience is available for them as usually kids younger than 7 are not allowed.

 

  • If you are staying in hotels, then note that most of them may have tie-ups with diving agencies- find out those too.

 

Scuba Diving in Goa Available from October to May

Any one over the age of 10 can participate, knowledge of swimming is desirable, not necessary- as long as someone is not afraid of water !

 

1. 7:00am to 7:45am – Training at dive centre

 

Report by 7:00am to ensure you don’t miss out on important safety and technical guidelines given by our professional instructors. Coaching will be carried out in a swimming pool. 

 

2.  7:45am to 8:30am – Break

 
Treat yourselves with a light snack at the in-house café (at a reasonable rate) or just kick back and relax.

 

3. 8:30am to 9:00am – Dive centre to boat jetty

 

Be escorted to the boat jetty from where your boat trip to Grande Island will begin. Light refreshments will be provided on-board, however if you’d like some additional snacks, you can get these at the jetty itself.

 

4. 9:30am to 10:30am – Boat jetty to dive site (Grande Island)

 

En-route to the island, feast your eyes on Goa’s hump-back dolphins, the Aguada Jail, Asia’s first light-house, the famous Billionaire’s Palace (Diamond Merchant) and more exciting views to keep you engaged.

 

5.  10:30am to 1:30pm – Experience diving

 

Our instructor supervised dive for beginners lasts about 45min at 12 meters depth (max). Certified divers get to experience 2 diving locations, depth ranges from 12 to 18 meters (duration depends on rate of oxygen consumption). 

 

6. 1:30 to 2:30pm – Dive site to boat jetty (Return)

 

Re-energise yourself with light refreshments while you make your way back to the boat jetty.

 

7.  2:30 to 3:00pm – Boat jetty to dive centre
 

Note – Pick up and drop will be provided from and to the dive centre only.

  • Please carry along swimwear, T-Shirt, Shorts
  • Sun cream, hat, sunglasses
  • Towel
