The base camp for this 6 day long trek of Valley of Flowers is located in a small hamlet called Ghangria; the trek however, begins from Govindghat. This trek, being a moderately difficult trek has gained the likes of both the beginners as well as experienced trekkers. The trek requires the trekkers to be physically fit and mentally strong in order to complete the trekking successfully without any difficulties or injuries. During the months of summer and spring, the valley is fully covered with flowers to an extent that even the bed of the valley is not visible. These months are considered as the best time to undertake trekking at this trek. The presence of the snow kissed peaks on the sides of the valley give it an unbelievable look. Further, the appeal as well as the charm of the valley is accentuated because of the numerous small streams that flow inside the valley.
This trail which leads to the captivating valley provides a number of visual treats for the trekkers who are inherently, the nature lovers. The trekkers need to traverse through various waterfalls, forests and glaciers before putting their first step in the mesmerizing valley that is uninhabited by any human race. In order to maintain the beauty and sanctity of this region, strict rules and regulations and certain environmental controls are imposed by the Government of India. The beauty of this valley can spellbind one and all; because of the presence of such unique and unusual beauty, the locals have been heard saying that this valley is adobe to the fairies.
Although the trek of Valley of Flowers is a challenging and a little tiresome, but once you reach there, just a simple glance at the beauty of the valley will take away your tiredness and troubles and you will surely feel that the painstaking journey to reach the Valley of Flowers was worth it. The Valley of Flowers consists of flowers of each and every shape and color; thus the site can fill your heart with rainbow colors. The visit to this trek of Valley of Flowers is so memorable that a lot of trekkers pay a visit to this trek on a regular basis in order to taste the natural beauty which is beautifully hidden inside the valley.
Short Itinerary
Day 1: Drive from Haridwar – Govindghat (5,998 ft.) via Joshimath (6,150 ft.) and Devprayag (8-9 hrs).
Day 2: Trek from Govindghat (5,998 ft.) – Ghangaria (10,003 ft.) (14 kms, 5-6 hrs).
Day 3: Trek from Ghangaria (10,003 ft.) – Valley Of Flowers (10,998ft. – 12,001 ft.) and back. (5 kms one side/3-4 hrs).
Day 4: Trek from Ghangaria (10,003 ft.) to Hemkund (14203 ft.) and back to Ghangaria ( 6 kms and back) (3-4 hrs)
Day 5: Trek from Ghangaria (10,003 ft.) – Govindghat (5,998 ft.) (14 kms) (3-4 hrs)
Day 6: Drive back to Haridwar from Govindghat
Itinerary Details
Govind ghat Day 1 : Drive from Haridwar to Govindghat via Joshimat and Devprayag (8-9 hrs)
Our staff will pick the participants in the morning from the Haridwar Railway station. The participants can reach Haridwar by air, bus or train, as per their convenience. We will drive from Haridwar to Govind Ghat via Devprayag and Joshimath. Devprayag is a beautiful city situated at the confluence of the River Alaknanda and River Bhagirathi, after which both of them are become the sacred River Ganges. We will be reaching Joshimath by the evening after which we will be checking in a hotel. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel itself. The participants can take a peaceful sleep in order to begin their journey for Valley of Flowers with full excitement and enthusiasm. But if, we will get time, we will try to reach Govind ghat on the same day and take night stay there only for the purpose of starting the trekking to Valley of Flowers in the early hours of the next morning.
Ghangaria Day 2 : Trek from Govindghat to Ghangaria (14 km, 3-4 hrs)
The participants will notice that there is a gradual ascent at Govind ghat along a well, while moving towards Ghangaria. Upon reaching Ghangaria, we need to check into a hotel. The participants are free to explore the surroundings in the evening. Dinner and the night stay are arranged at the hotel premises only.
Day 3 : Trek from Ghangaria to Valley Of Flowers and back. (5km one side/4-5 hrs)
From Ghangaria, we will start in the early hours of the morning our trekking expedition to the Valley of Flowers, having an altitude of 3858m. The valley can fill your heart with joy by providing the rare sights of the lesser known wild flowers such as Marsh, geranium etc. The valley spreads over an area of 10 km and has a width of 2 km. It is divided by a stream called Pushpawati into numerous tiny streams and a number of waterfalls merge into this valley. Once all the participants are fully satisfied with the beauty and the captivity of the Valley of Flowers, we will trek to reach Ghangaria. The arrangements for dinner and overnight stay will be done at a hotel in Ghangaria.
Hemkund Sahib Day 4 : Trek from Ghangaria to Hemkund and back
The trekking from Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib, which is located at a height of 4329m, begins at the early morning hours. The trail is quite steep. Hemkund Sahib is of prime importance to the Sikh community. According to the Holy book, Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh has recounted that in the previous life, he used to meditate on a lake's shore which was enveloped by seven snow kissed mountains. These mountains are named as Hemkund. We will take the participants back from Hemkund to Ghangaria in late afternoon. The dinner as well as an overnight stay for the participants on Day4 will take place at the hotel in Ghangaria.
Day 5 : Trek from Ghangaria (10,003 ft.) – Govindghat (5,998 ft.) (14 kms) (3-4 hrs)
We trek back to Govindghat and from here we drive to Joshimath. Upon arrival at Govindghat / Joshimath check into a hotel. Rest of the day is free to explore this picturesque area.
Day 6: Drive back to Haridwar from Govindghat
Early morning we drive back Rishikesh/Haridwar. Lunch enroute.Arrive Rishikesh/Haridwar by evening. Trek ends with a mosaic of colourful memories.
