!! Trek to the Horse Face- Kudremukh !!
Kudremukh is the highest peak in the Kudremukh National Park, Karnataka which is the second largest Wildlife Protected Area in western Ghats. Kudremukh peak is the 3rd highest peak in the Chikmanglur district with the elevation of 6,214 ft. Trekking in Western Ghat is always fun as we are going to cross multiple streams, dense forest, lots of waterfall and if lucky,will enjoy the wildlife sighting like birds, snakes or any other wildlife sighting. The Kudremukh resembles as the Horse-Face as the beautiful side of the Mountain referred as the one side of the Horse’s face.
Day 1:
Meet at Udupi station and proceed to Chikmanglur. Check into the resort. Freshen-up and breakfast. Hike through the beautiful village roads with the amazing landscapes of the valley and villages. Start the trek through some tea gardens to reach a beautiful and secluded waterfalls.
Day 2
Early morning after having tea and breakfast will proceed to Kudremukh trek which is 12 kms both the way. We start our trek from the village house at the periphery of the national part crossing streams and forests patches initially till we reach open grasslands. Lunch can be haD beside one of the streams or on the peak. Wildlife is sometime sighted with the place abound with spotted deer, sambar deer, bison, the endangered Malabar red squirrel and many species of birds. Once back at to the hotel fresh up and after having evening snacks will leave for Mumbai.
1. There are no basic freshen-up and toilet facilities.
2. Avoid carrying heavy weight for the trek.
